CPAA a Lead Voice in ISBE Special Education Coalition
Today I joined with a coalition of special education advocates to represent the voices of principals, assistant principals and administrators at a meeting of the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Our collective testimony was so impactful that a board official contacted us afterward and told us she was deeply disturbed by what she heard regarding CPS special education policy and funding. We will continue to follow up with ISBE and update you on our progress.
My statement to the board was recorded by a Raise Your Hand parent organization member and can be found on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ilraiseyourhand/videos/1526424100786579/
There was a particularly impactful statement that came from an attorney with Equip for Equality. I highly recommend viewing it at https://www.facebook.com/ilraiseyourhand/videos/1526439754118347/
I will send a more thorough update at the beginning of next week. Until then, I will continue to fight for you and your schools.
We are the only organization representing the interests of Chicago principals and their schools. Our work is made possible by our members. Thank you for your continued support. If you know a colleague who is not yet a member, please send them the www.joincpaa.com link and encourage them to support our work.
I hope you all have a beautiful weekend.
