An Opportunity to Build Special Education Alliances for Your School

School Leaders,
One of my foundation principles for CPAA is that we must build alliances with parents, community members, and civic organizations who share our interests in order to increase our collective influence on CPS and state education policy.
One of the issue-based alliances we must build focuses on the issue of special education changes at CPS. In an effort to foster such an alliance, I encourage all of you to attend the following program tomorrow night:

Public Forum for Parents and Concerned Citizens
on Special Education Issues and Changes at CPS
Know Your Rights
Get Your Resources
Share Your Stories
Tuesday, October 25th
6:30 - 8:00 PM

Union Park
1501 W. Randolph St.
Chicago, Illinois

Panelists: Rod Estvan (Access Living), Matt Cohen (Matt Cohen and Associates, LLC) and CPS Parents and Staff
The event is sponsored by Raise Your Hand for Illinois Public Education
In addition, please share the attached flyer with all your staff and parents.  If you’d like to be discreet in sharing it widely, I suggest sharing it with trusted parent/teacher organizers and encourage them to share it with the larger parent/teacher community.
Note: There is noticeable absence of principal voice on the panel.  If you are interested in serving on the panel, please contact me today (773) 494-2528.  Otherwise feel free to simply attend and comment from the audience if you feel so moved.
