CPAA is the only organization working on behalf of principals, assistant principals and administrators of the Chicago Public Schools. Our goal is to improve educational and administrative leadership in our schools and to elevate the status and morale of our members.

Legal Assistance

CPAA employs a full-time general counsel who provides invaluable legal support and advice to members regarding their on-the-job issues. Help is always just a phone call away. Our national organization, the American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA), provides additional legal support for certain types of issues.

legislative action

Our lobbyist will take your concerns to Springfield and beyond. Distribution of funds from our Political Action Committee (PAC) is managed by our Legislative Committee. CPAA actively tracks legislation as it develops in Springfield to ensure that the concerns of the organization are taken into account. Excellent and enduring relations with key legislators have yielded many positive results.

Regular communication with the leadership of  Chicago Public Schools and various department heads allow for your issues and concerns to be heard. CPAA is also represented at a wide variety of community education organizations. These partnerships have served to unify and strengthen the voice of administrators in the Chicago Public Schools. 


Illinois administrators' academy

The Illinois Administrators Academy (IAA) provides opportunities for professional growth and enrichment. You must take one IAA session every year to maintain your Professional Educator License (PEL). Whereas, CPAA strives to improve the working conditions of principals, assistant principals, and administrators through information, advocacy, and legal assistance, IAA provides principals, administrators, and other school leaders with workshops and development opportunities to enhance their professional growth and meet the requirements of Professional Educator License.
