"Grossly Inadequate": Special Ed Roadblocks in Chicago
(Part 1 of 4)

This video airs the perspective of CPS Principals regarding the roadblocks installed by the Mayor's Office and CPS officials to prevent students from getting the special education services they need. Delivered at the Chicago Board of Education on Wednesday, October 25, 2017.

“Our Kids Are Trash to Them”: Principal Voices
(Part 2 of 4)

Our second two-minute video from October's Chicago Board of Education Meeting is composed almost entirely of direct quotes from the men and women who lead Chicago's schools. Their descriptions of the impact of CPS’ secret overhaul of special education guidelines and procedures are a disturbing and heartbreaking call to action for the residents of Chicago.

Kids “Not Worth the Investment” to CPS
(Part 3 of 4)

In what is already the most understaffed school district in Illinois, CPS spent $14 million to create a cumbersome data collection requirement to qualify kids for special education, but spent $0 for the staffing needed to collect the data, thereby exacerbating the understaffing problem. We need leaders willing to invest in our students.

"Aspirin for Asthma" at Chicago Public Schools
(Part 4 of 4)

The mayor's new cumbersome special education data collection requirement at CPS is superfluous, unnecessary, and potentially harmful to students because it is designed to delay and deny special education services. It's not just CEO Claypool. Claypool is doing what Emanuel appointed him to do.

Principal Appreciation

According to the Illinois State Board of Education, Chicago Public Schools is ranked 849 out of 854 school districts in the ratio of students to certified staff. That means CPS principals lead the MOST UNDERSTAFFED schools in Illinois.

October is National Principals Month. Let's show our support for our principals and the students they serve by pushing City Hall to staff their schools adequately.
